Joyce Brooks, 76, of Fort Dodge passed away peacefully on April 8, Easter Sunday, surrounded by her family at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge. Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, April 13th at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge. She is survived by her husband Melvin Brooks; sons Doug (Mary Beth) Owenson of Dayton, Denny (Julie) Owenson of Dayton and Bruce (Pam) Owenson of Harcourt; stepsons Dave Brooks of Cedar Rapids, Phil (Diane) Brooks of Cedar Rapids; stepdaughter Karen (Larry) Beard of Lima, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; two brothers Marion Martin and Harold Martin both of Webster City; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Anna Martin; brothers, Thomas, Ernest and Duane; and sisters, Clarice and Ruth. Joyce Ann Martin was born August 1, 1935 in Blairsburg. In 1953 she graduated from Jewell High School. She married Peter Owenson in 1953 and they later divorced. Joyce married Melvin Brooks in 1985 and they resided together in Fort Dodge.
