Marvin (Beans) Stringer, 84, of Fort Dodge passed away in his home on Thursday May 31, 2012. Marvin will be cremated and a memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Marvin was born in Dunnell, MN on April 21, 1928 to Melvin and Blanche (Osberg) Stringer. He grew up and attended school in Fort Dodge. He served in the 133rd Air National Guard and the U.S. Army. He married Jane Butrick on December 18, 1981 in Fort Dodge. He worked for Webster County for 17 years. After his retirement he became a certified club maker and worked for Caddy Shack for 9 years. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Golf Course. He was an avid golfer, club maker, wood carver and was a man of many hobbies. He enjoyed spending time with his family and also enjoyed fishing.
Marvin is survived by his wife Jane; daughter Jaci (Rick) Noll; 5 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Blanche Stringer; his son Don Hart and his brother Richard (Pee Wee) Stringer.
