Candice Katerina Berte

Candice Katerina Berte was born May 19, 1992, in Lakewood, Colorado, the daughter of Allen and Connie (Jensen) Berte. She grew up in Golden where she also attended school and excelled in art at a young age. She later moved with her family to Algona and she graduated from Algona High School in 2010. Candice went on to attend Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. Candice had earned her CNA and was currently working toward her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She was also working at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge, as well as at the Algona Manor Care Center. She enjoyed working on the farm with her father, running the equipment or whatever she needed to do to help out. Her biggest love was her artwork, which she was very proud of and won many awards and scholarships for during her high school days. Candice was very involved in FFA and HOSA while in high school and also enjoyed horseback riding and was a lover of cats and dogs. Candice was very much a "people person" and liked to have fun, but also wanted to take care of everyone. Candice died Sunday, September 9, 2012. She was 20.
