Harvey Ernest Jeffrey

Mr. Harvey Ernest Jeffrey, 85, of Danville, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington. Mr. Jeffrey was born September 7, 1927 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Henry Albert and Flossie Hilbrant Jeffrey. He married Pauline Gourley and she preceded him in death in April 1971. On July 15, 1972 he married Loyce Kelly in Mt. Pleasant. He worked as a clerk for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 33 years, retiring in 1988. He was a 1944 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of Harmony Bible Church, the Board of Directors of East Iowa Bible Camp, retiring in the spring of 2012. He was a charter member of Harmony Bible Awana Clubs for 38 years, serving as Pals/Pioneers Director, retiring in May 2012. Mr. Jeffrey is survived by his wife; two sons, Mike Jeffrey of Lexington, Oklahoma, Paul Jeffrey of Springfield, Virginia; two step-daughters, Karen (Steve) Brimhall of Mt. Amee and Jeff Wilkins, Suzanne and Brant Miller, Matt Jeffrey, Kyndall Watson, Clint Jeffrey, Pauline Jeffrey, Rebekah and Curtis Beekman, Sarah and Ben Berberich, Tim and Megan Kelly, Andrew and Samantha Kelly, Joy and Grant Bickell, Kellie and Nolan Benge, and Jess and Celsey Huber; and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one sister Margaret one infant brother Robert, two half- brothers, two half-sisters, one son Mike Kelly, and two great-grand-daughters Shaelynn and Adalynn Kelly. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 14, at Harmony Bible Church, rural Danville. Pastor Matt Yaley will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove South Cemetery, rural Danville. Military Rites will be presented by the Henry County Honor Guard. Immediately following the committal, the family will receive friends at Harmony Bible Church for lunch and fellowship. Memorials have been established to East Iowa Bible Camp, Harmony Bible Awana Clubs, and Great River Hospice House. Elliott Chapel, New London is in charge of arrangements.
