Leroy W. Lenz

Leroy W. Lenz, age 77, of Spirit Lake, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake. He was born on April 15, 1935, in Lake Park, Iowa, to Herb and Marj (Elliott) Lenz. Leroy was united in marriage to Marilyn Leek on February 8, 1953, in Lake Park, Iowa. He has operated heavy machinery all of his life. Leroy owned and operated D and L Construction from 1974, until 1989. He worked at Pure Fishing from 1989, until 2000, when he retired. During retirement however, he still continued to work for Sam Wedeking. Leroy enjoyed spending his spare time fishing and smoking meat on his smoker. He treated his family to delicious meals on a regular basis. Leroy is survived by his wife, Marilyn Lenz of Spirit Lake; daughter, Charlene Linn, and her husband, Ron, of Colfax; three sons, Duane Lenz, and his wife, Marjie, of Marshalltown, Mike Lenz, and his wife, Becky, of Mallard, and Jerry Lenz of Schaller; two sisters, Sally Lawerance, and her husband, Skeeter, of Lake Park, and Marjianne Lowry, and her husband, Ted, of Spirit Lake; seven grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. lene. A funeral service will be held at 2:00P.M. Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Leroy's name.
