Paul Mays WEST LIBERTY, Iowa -- Paul Richard Mays, 61, of West Liberty, died on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at his home. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2012, at the First Church United in West Liberty. Burial will be in Shawver Cemetery, Cedar Bluff. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 23, 2012, from 12 noon until 3 p.m. at the church. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established. Paul was born on July 21, 1951, in Iowa City, the son of Wallace and Dorothy Dedrick Mays. He was a graduate of West Liberty High School in 1969. On July 18, 1986 he was united in marriage to Cindy Achenbach Noring. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1991 with a degree in Psychology and also received his Nursing Home Administrators Certificate from Des Moines Area Community College that same year. He was employed at Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab Center, Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty, Donnellson Health Center, Montrose Health Center and of recent was a paraprofessional at City High in Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Dick Achenbach.
