Jacob W. Kershner

Jacob William Kershner, 19, of Burlington, died as a result of an automobile accident Saturday, September 29, 2012. Born September 13, 1993 in Burlington, he was the son of Randy and Pam Kershner. He was a 2012 graduate of Burlington Community High School. After graduation Jake was employed as a welder for Case New Holland. He worked the summer of 2010 at Rheinschmidt's Marble and Granite and was a summer laborer for Des Moines County Conservation Offices in 2011. Recently he worked for Shipley Construction as a laborer. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and Bike Burlington. Jake participated in the S.E. Iowa Duck Calling contest (youth division) and placed several times. Jake loved the outdoors including hunting and fishing. These times with his family and friends meant the world to him. Friends may call from noon until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 3rd in Lunning Chapel, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. The funeral service for Jake will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4th, at Big Hollow Recreation Center, 18829 Ranger Lane, Sperry Iowa. Rev. Ken Peterson will officiate. The family would like everyone to dress casual and wear outdoor gear. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral service. A memorial has been established in Jacob's memory.
