Karen Lea (McCollam) Marston, the daughter of Donald and Virginia (Whitehead) McCollam, was born August 2, 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa. At a young age, her family moved to Fort Dodge. Karen received her Bachelors of Science degree in literature from Iowa State University in 1976. Karen moved to Idaho where she lived from 1980 until 1994, when she returned to Fort Dodge.
Karen enjoyed volunteering with the Creative Concepts Center, where she helped with plays and also performed in them. She was an active member of First Christian Church in Fort Dodge. She loved to read and cook, and she enjoyed listening to music and watching movies of all types. Her favorite band was The Moody Blues which she listened to all the time. Karen loved the simple things that life had to offer.
Karen is survived by her daughter Torrey Lea Smith; her grandson Alexander Smith, granddaughter Madison Noring; three nephews, Michael McCollam, Tim McCollam and Dan McCollam and her niece Terry McCollam along with her sister-in-law Polly McCollam. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Max McCollam.
