Barbara Johnson

STOUGHTON--Barbara Johnson, age 81 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 25, 2012. She was born in Stoughton on March 19, 1931 the daughter of the late Thrond and Mildred (Onsrud) Holtan. She attended college at UW Stout and UW Madison. She was united in marriage to Norman Johnson of Stoughton on February 14, 1953. Together they farmed and raised their family in the town of Dunkirk. Barb was one of the original greeters for Walmart when it opened in Stoughton and worked there for several years. She had a gift for hospitality both at home and work. Barb loved to cook for family, friends and harvest help. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Barb is survived by her children: Karen (Jay) Halverson of Sanibel, FL, Tom (Marie), Dave (Karen), and Kathy all of Stoughton; grandchildren: Kari, Emma, and Sam, Nick and Leah, and Austin and Michael; great-grandchildren, Heidi, Lilly, and Abbie; brother, David (Karen) Holtan of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Mary (Duane) Lunde of Eau Claire; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Benson of Stoughton and Myrtle Jordan of New Smyrna, FL; also nieces, nephews, and cousins. r husband, Norman in 1992, and her parents. Services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington St., Stoughton with Reverend Jerry Pribbenow officiating. Family will greet friends from 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial will be in Eastside Lutheran Cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
