Kathleen Kay Lentz, one of nine children of Opal Vivian (Weston) and Kenneth Glen Ueberrhein, was born on January 4, 1955 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She grew up in Glenwood, Iowa where she attended school and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1973. Following school, Kathy began work at the Glenwood State Hospital School, where she was employed for over 20 years as a GRC residential treatment worker. Kathy and David Thomas Lentz were married on October 8, 1983 at the Glenwood Wesleyan Church in Glenwood. They made their home in Glenwood and their marriage was blessed with two children, Kristin and Andrew. Kathy was a member of the Glenwood Community Church where she enjoyed helping out with several church activities including, Awana (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed). She shared her faith in God and helped many people find their way to Christ. Kathy received various awards for her years of service at the Glenwood Resource Center, some of which were for outstanding employee service. . She enjoyed spending time with her family and was everyone's best friend. Kathy and Dave were married 29 years when Kathy passed away at Hospice with Heart in Glenwood, at the age of 57 years, 10 months, and 11 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, David Ueberrhein and Mark Ueberrhein; sisters, Iris Farr and Peggy Study-Evans; brother-in-law Clyde Cole; and great nephew Carter James Ratliff. Kathy is survived by her beloved husband Dave Lentz of Glenwood; daughter Kristin Kirby and husband Brandon of Wausa, NE; son Andy Lentz of Glenwood; grandsons, Keith and Evan Kirby; sisters, Esther Cole of Redwood Falls, MN, and Ruth Houser and husband Mike of Glenwood; brothers, Robert Ueberrhein and wife Kris of Omaha, NE, and Danny Ueberrhein of Glenwood; sister-in-law Sara Claussen of Omaha; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends. Memorials are directed to the family. Inurnment in the Glenwood Cemetery. Loess Hills Funeral Home of Glenwood in charge of arrangements.
