June Rose (Wolter) Hanson was born on June 4, 1928 in Panola, Minnesota to William and Anna (Doerr) Wolter. She lived in the Lindstrom, Minnesota area from 1928 until the late 1940's, when she moved to St. Paul, Minnesota to work for the Pearson Candy Company. She received her education by attending Lindstrom public schools, Chisago City High School and Forest Lake High School. On May 28, 1960, June was united in marriage to Selmer Bernard Hanson at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. June was blessed with five loving children, Sandra, Charles, Tammy, Bernard, and Debra. After their marriage, June and Selmer lived in St. Paul until 1968, when they moved to Southern California. In June of 1969, they returned to live in northern Minnesota for a short time, and then in Sleepy Eye, MN. They moved to Windom in 1984. June kept busy as a homemaker and also at times took jobs cleaning private homes, her church, and local businesses. Selmer passed away on June 26, 1994. After his passing, June continued to live in their home in Windom. June, 2011. Her health began to decline in July of this year and, with family at her side, went to be with the Lord on Friday morning, November 16, 2012 at the age of 84. June was a member of various United Methodist Churches throughout her life, and most recently was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Windom. She had a strong Christian faith and will be remembered for her big, kind heart. June enjoyed collecting rocks and seashells, playing her keyboard, going camping, house plants, crafts, drawing, puzzles, and playing cards and board games. She also had a fondness for animals, especially dogs. Her greatest enjoyments in life were visiting with her children and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by four children, Charles and his wife, Elaine, of Chanhassen MN; Tammy Koehne and her husband, Gary, of Rochester MN; Bernard and his wife, Jeanne Abicht, of Plymouth MN; and Debra Baerg and her husband, Lee, of Windom; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Zada Wolter of Albert Lea MN; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. June was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Sandra Ann Hanson (1970); brother, Rev. Lester Charles Wolter; and sister, Ethel Lydia Wallenberg.
