Harold Charles Brown

Mr. Harold Charles Brown Sr., 94, of Burlington died at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at West Point Care Center. Born November 22, 1917 in Burlington, he was the son of Thomas William and Clara Emily Wolverton Brown. On September 16, 1940 he married Virgie Helen McGinity in Keokuk. Mr. Brown was a lifetime resident of Burlington. He worked as a delivery driver for Fullerton Lumber Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Salvation Army. Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Virgie Brown of Burlington; two sons, Harold C. (Mary) Brown Jr. of Burlington and Randy (Tina) Brown of West Burlington; two daughters, Clara (Jerry) Ingwersen of Denmark and Diana (Hal) Plummer of Burlington; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley Brown and Thomas (Karen) Brown of Lubbock, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Wyatt, one great-great granddaughter Kylie; three brothers, Paul Brown, Earl Brown and Ralph Brown; eight sisters, Effie Stephenson, Ruth Koester, Dorothy Watkins, Helen Cosgrove, Hazel Brown, Betty Brown and twin sisters in infancy. all from 1:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 23rd, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. The funeral service for Mr. Brown will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 24th, at Lunning Chapel. Capt. Dawn Russell will officiate. A memorial has been established for the Salvation Army. According to Mr. Brown's wishes, cremation will be accorded following the funeral service.
