Gail Lorraine (Sherrard) Tuttle, age 102, of Moravia, died on Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. She was born on August 27, 1910 in Plano, IA to James Theodore and Anna Mae (Dillon) Sherrard. She graduated from Plano High School, class of 1928. She received her bachelor's degree in education from Simpson College in 1936. She married Karl Ensley Tuttle on June 20, 1943 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia. They were blessed with one son, Terry. Karl died on March 17, 1974. Gail was a teacher in Plano and Moravia for over fifty years. She was the mayor of Moravia for eight years. Until her later years, she was an active member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia, and was very instrumental in establishing senior meals. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, the Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Republican Party. She is survived by one son, Terry (Karen) Tuttle of Albia, three grandchildren: Jeffrey (Espy) Tuttle of Albia, Jennie (Doug) Pistek of Albia, John (Julie) Tuttle of Carlisle, and four great grandchildren, Andrew, Anthony, Marilyn Tuttle, and Ashley Brennan. ts, husband, brother Joe, two half sisters, Jenifer Green and Lucile Andre, adopted step-son Kenneth and great granddaughter, Taryn Suzanne Tuttle. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia with Pastor Cindy Finn officiating. Funeral Luncheon will follow services at the church. Burial will follow luncheon in Crossroads Cemetery near Plano. Visitation will be Friday, November 30, 2012 opening to the public at 1:00 pm and family will be present from 5-8 pm Friday evening at Sinnott Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Albia. In Lieu of flowers, memorials directed to Grace United Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall Building Fund. Online condolences may be left at sinnottfuneralhome.com.
