Marvin Alfred Keith

Mr. Marvin Alfred Keith, Sr., 87, of New London, died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Mr. Keith was born July 19, 1925 in Wayland, the son of Alfred H. and Bessie Mae Orn Keith. He married Billie Basquin in 1986 in Las Vegas. He was a graduate of Wayland High School and of the Christian faith. Mr. Keith worked as a machinist at General Electric in Burlington. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army. Mr. Keith was a member of the New London VFW Post 7641 and was a former Mason. He enjoyed eating out at Ryan's in Burlington, visiting and reminiscing, traveling, and especially enjoyed taking the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. He is survived by his wife, of New London; two sons, Michael (Angelita) Keith of Oquawka, IL, and Dwain (Christina) Keith of Knoxville; one step-daughter, Norma Basquin of New London; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson; one sister, Mary Frances (Dwight) Graber of Wayland; nieces and nephews. s, and Lucille Mast. Funeral services for Mr. Keith will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 21, 2012 at Elliott Chapel, New London. Pastor Jim Roth will officiate. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery, New London with Military Rites by the Henry County Honor Guard. Visitation will begin after 9:00 AM on Friday at the Chapel, with the family greeting friends one hour prior to the service. A memorial has been established.
