Kathleen L. Detrick
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the Capital Campaign at either St. Cecelia Catholic Church or to Bishop Garrigan High School. Kathleen Louise Detrick was born February 15, 1930, in Algona, Iowa, the daughter of Eugene and Helen (Froehlich) Huber. She grew up in Algona where she attended school and in 1947 graduated from St. Cecelia's Academy. After her schooling she worked at Northwestern Bell. On February 5, 1948, Kathleen was united in marriage to Robert Detrick in Algona. After their marriage they lived and farmed north of Algona while raising their family. She later worked as a waitress at Van's Cafe, at the Algona Newspaper and at the Algona Livestock Auction until 1999. She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, playing the piano, fishing and doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Cecelia #283 and a past member of the Union Mothers and Daughters Club and Bishop Garrigan High School board member. Kathleen died Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at the Algona Manor Care Center. She was 82.
