Margaret McCarthy

Margaret V. McCarthy, 88, of Wichita, KS, formerly of Fort Dodge, died December 21, 2012 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. A service honoring Margaret's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on January 20 at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Margaret V. Clark, the daughter of Walter E. and Vera (Doney) Clark, was born February 13, 1924 in Sherwood, Iowa. She lived in Sherwood for 12 years and graduated from Truesdale High School in 1940. Margaret moved to the Storm Lake area and then to Fort Dodge. On February 7, 1948, Margaret was united in marriage to Clifford Francis McCarthy in Fort Dodge. She was employed with Edward Hines Lumber and Jim's Floor Covering, as a bookkeeper. Margaret also worked for Iowa Central Community College and Iowa Job Service. Clifford preceded her in death in 1972. Margaret was a member of Corpus Christi Church and the Lioness Club. She enjoyed reading, traveling and especially time spent with her family. Besides her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Edward Clark and Warren Clark. Memorials may be directed to the Blanden Art Museum and or the Wichita Symphony Orchestra.
