Services for Mary Hunt, 96, will be Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Hope United Methodist Church in Melcher-Dallas with family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to her church, Hospice of Central Iowa of Knoxville, or Park Lane Assisted Living in Knoxville. McCoy was born November 14, 1916 near Pleasantville, Iowa to William and Julia (Wright) McCoy. She was raised in the Pleasantville area and attended school there. Mary was married to William Jennings Hunt on June 21, 1935 and they were blessed with three children: Theodore, Thelma, and Billie. Growing up Mary worked for neighbors by ironing, cleaning, and cooking. She worked at the overall factory and worked at Harrison's Dime Store for 17 years. n the New Hope United Methodist Church. She belonged to the UMW and contributed where ever she could. Mary loved to travel and to see family. She was always ready to go when Thelma called; whether it was to go across town or across the country. Mary could do anything and was very determined if she needed something done. Billie had to take her chainsaw and ladder away when she wouldn't stop trimming trees or climbing to put plastic on the windows of her home. Preceding Mary in death were her husband, William Jennings Hunt; parents, William and Julia; and her siblings: Harlan McCoy, Veda Davis, Faye Fisher, Luella Dahleen, Lindsey McCoy, Franklin McCoy; and two infant brothers. She is survived by her children: Theodore (Darlene) Hunt of Jefferson City, MO, Thelma (Bill) Roberts of Bettendorf, IA, and Billie (Sheryl) Hunt of Knoxville; along with 5 grandchildren: Elizabeth, John, Jayme, Kenny, and Brenda; 9 great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; brother, Billie McCoy of Gig Harbor, WA; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
