Grace Laverel (Hill) Peterson was born on December 25, 1918 in Wakefield, Nebraska to Cassibianca and Elizabeth (Olson) Hill. She attended country school near Waterbury, Nebraska and graduated from Dixon High School in Nebraska with the Class of 1937. On February 2, 1941, Grace was united in marriage to Glenn Peterson in Dixon, Nebraska. This marriage was blessed with eight children, Bonnie, Charles, John, Janice, Alice, Virginia, Richard, and Betty. After marriage, Glenn and Grace farmed in Nebraska and moved to Heron Lake, Minnesota to continue farming. Grace kept busy as a homemaker and helping Glenn farm. Glenn passed away on December 11, 2009. After his death, Grace continued living at her home on the farm until recently when she moved into the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom. She lived there until passing away on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the age of 94. Grace was a member of the United Methodist Church in Heron Lake where she was active in the ladies aid and worked at many church fundraisers and benefits. She is survived by six children, John Peterson and his wife, Linda, of Parkersburg, WV; Janice Muller and her husband, Gary, of Ceylon; Alice Hayes and her husband, Jerry, of Mountain Lake; Virginia Hess and her husband, Paul, of Boulder, MT; Richard Peterson and his wife, Karen, of Waverly, IA; and Betty Herman of Wilder; one son-in-law, Melvin Duerksen of Windom; one daughter-in-law, Betty Peterson of Maple Grove; 29 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn; one daughter, Bonnie Duerksen; one son, Charles Peterson; one daughter-in-law, JoAnn Peterson; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Rolland and Daniel Hill; and one sister; Mildred Blumer.
