Paul Arthur Christ was born in Lincoln Township on September 4, 1922, the son of August F. and Elsie (Gollnow) Christ. Paul's mother, Elsie passed away when he was 18 months old due to complications from gallbladder surgery. Paul went to live with his Grandpa and Grandma Gollnow until he was the age of four. He never learned to speak English until he started school. He attended country school for eight years and later served in the U.S. Army for 18 months. He was stationed at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina as a military patrol from March 18, 1946 until September 18, 1947. He was attached to Company 4-3436. He married Agnes Schutter of Titonka, Iowa on December 3, 1947, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Titonka. They started farming in Ramsey Township, owning their own farm and living there all their married life until moving into Lakota on April 1, 1990. They are the parents of five children, William, Elaine, Sara, Jeanne and Glenn. Paul had served as an usher, on several church boards, and also was a member of the American Legion. e. Paul is known for his dedication to tying quilts for the Quilting Group of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He also made and donated many latch hook rugs for church fundraisers and the Salvation Army. He will be remembered by his sincerity and dedication to church and his family. Paul is survived by his wife Agnes; children William (wife Beryl), Elaine, Sara, Jeanne (husband Jack) and Glenn (wife Glee); Grandchildren Erich (wife Lynnay), William, Brian (wife Beth), Erin (husband Marty), Ariana, Larissa and Leah; and Great Grandchildren Isaac, Elliot, Macie, Blake, Lanie and Benjamin and a sister, Ella Addy. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Walter and other relatives.
