Valerie Fahlgren

Mrs. Valerie Fahlgren, 88, of West Burlington died at 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Great River Medical Center - Klein Center. Born November 19, 1924 in London, England, she was the daughter of Arthur Montague and Margaret Madeline Walton Adams. On May 30, 1943 she married Malcolm C. Fahlgren in Paddington, England. He preceded her in death in June of 1989. Mrs. Fahlgren was the first English war bride in Iowa. Valerie was an employee of Champion Sparkplug for 47 years, retiring at the age of 82. She enjoyed swimming, riding motorcycles, jogging, horseback riding and being around water. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. grandchild, Yaniah Martinez; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Fahlgren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Malcolm "Tony" Fahlgren; great grandson, Malcolm "Ray" Magel and two sisters. Friends may call from noon until 6 p.m. Sunday, January 6th, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. The funeral service for Mrs. Fahlgren will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 7th, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. JudyAnn Morse officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Great River Hospice and First United Church of Christ.
