Daniel Michael Mullin

Daniel Michael ("Mike") Mullin, 71, of Fort Lauderdale, died at 12:45 PM, Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Broward General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale. He was surrounded by his close family and friends. He was born July 15, 1941 in Miami, Florida, to Thomas J. and Minnie E. Mullin. He married Elizabeth M. Batignani on August 17, 1973, and she survives. He is also survived by his son, Thomas Mullin, and his daughter-in-law, Andrea Mullin, of West Palm Beach. Mike was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his sister Mary Ellen Cottone. Mike was a long-time resident of Fort Lauderdale. He graduated from Leon County High School in Tallahassee, Florida in 1959. He received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from the American College at Louvain, Belgium. A former deacon with the Catholic Church, he began teaching high school in 1963, first at Chaminade Catholic High School in Hollywood, Florida, and then at Western High School in Davie, Florida. Mike loved to travel, convincing his wife to overcome her fear of flying to take ski trips to Colorado and vacations to Europe. Mike enjoyed entertaining with friends, talking politics, and telling stories. He also enjoyed art, fine wine, and antiques. After retirement, he volunteered at the local public library and at Western High School, still dedicating his time helping others. The visitation is from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Fred Hunter's University Drive Home, 2401 South University Drive, Davie, Florida. The mass will follow the next day at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 21, 2013 at St. David Catholic Church, 3900 S. University Drive, Davie, Florida.
