Donald Lee Kerr was born June 17, 1952, in Estherville, Iowa the son of Howard and Doris (Raepe) Kerr. He was a 1971 graduate of Emmetsburg High School, and he attended Iowa Lakes Community College. Don was also a graduate of the Police Academy at Camp Dodge in Johnston, Iowa.
On July 19, 1997, Don was united in marriage to Mary Clayton at Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger. The couple made their home in Graettinger. Don worked in several law enforcement agencies. He worked as a Palo Alto County Deputy Sheriff, police officer for the city of West Bend, Fort Dodge State Prison and he was currently employed as a correctional officer with the Correctional Facility in Rockwell City.
Don enjoyed Dale Earnhardt, John Wayne, fishing and woodworking. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, son and friend.
