Patrick Thomas Kliegl
Patrick Thomas Kliegl was born March 6, 1937, in Emmetsburg, IA, the son of Conrad and Marie (McEwan) Kliegl. He attended Cylinder Grade School. Pat was a graduate of Emmetsburg Catholic High School in Emmetsburg and later, Jones Business College in Jacksonville, FL. On September 10, 1960, Pat was united in marriage to Maureen Molloy in Assumption Catholic Church. Pat served our country in the United States Navy for 20 years. He then worked as a vocational technology administrator for St. Augustine Technical Center in Florida. In 1978, he and his family returned to Iowa to enjoy the closeness of family. Pat served the city of Emmetsburg as comptroller and administrator for six years. In 1985, he began his career as the regional manager for Mutual Protective Insurance Company of Omaha, NE. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2295. Pat enjoyed golfing with his family and friends. He looked forward to hunting and fishing trips with great enthusiasm. Pat loved planning and preparing for his children and grandchildren to spend summer days and holidays on Five Island Lake. their 50th wedding anniversary. On September 6, 2011, Pat passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Maureen of Emmetsburg; six children: James of Holly Pond, AL, Julie Krause (Scott) of Algona, IA, Kate VanOosbree (Dave) of Emmetsburg, John (Kasey) of West Des Moines, IA, Jeanine Lawson (Dan) of Gainesville, VA and Michelle Westfall (Jon) of Emmetsburg; 16 grandchildren; six sisters: Joanne Kelly and Katie Neary (Dick) of Emmetsburg, IA, Mary Hartman (Dwayne) of Pocahontas, IA, Janet Halstead (Buck) of Waterloo, IA, Lorraine Prahl (Jerry) of Sioux City, IA, and Jean Kudrna (Dick) of Sioux City, IA; and many nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Helen DeWitt. Memorials may be made to Horizon's Unlimited or Hospice of Palo Alto County.
