Betty Josephine O'Brien was born November 25, 1932 in Emmetsburg, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Evans) O'Brien. She attended St. Mary's Academy in Emmetsburg. On August 28, 1950, Betty was united in marriage to Kenneth Hagen. The couple lived on a farm near Cylinder where they raised their three children. Kenny passed away on January 27, 1981. Betty married Francis Brennan on February 13, 1982, and they made their home in Emmetsburg. Francis passed away on June 2, 2005.
Betty was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was active in her church circle and choir. Betty enjoyed camping, traveling and having coffee with family and friends. She loved to shop, but most of all, Betty loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was always an avid supporter of all of their activities.
On February 2, 2013, Betty passed away at the Lakeside Lutheran Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Kenny and Francis; three brothers: Carl, Dean and Bill O'Brien; and a sister, Mary Jean Fergason.
