From 1951 to 1953, Ed served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, serving in Germany. After his honorable discharge he returned to the family farm. On June 28, 1953 he was united in marriage to Glenda May Wrede at St. Paul Lutheran Church. In 1957, the couple made their home on the farm in Duncombe; where Ed farmed his entire life. He also was employed for over 20 years at Land O'Lakes in Fort Dodge, retiring in 1988. He was past Commander of the Duncombe American Legion Post #491, and was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
