Mrs. Ruby Ford Townsend was born on October 14, 1918 to the late Todd Colvin and Emma Ford Colvin.
At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Haven United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women Senior Usher Board.
She was also a member of the Co-op club.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late George C. Townsend, Sr.
She was a Graduate of Alabama State University.
Mrs. Townsend worked as a Public School Teacher in the Alabama School System or thirty-six (36) years.
She was preceded in death by: Her husband, George Clovas Townsend, Sr.; her parents. Mr. Todd and Emma Colvin: daughter. Wanda T. McCall; six brothers and six sisters.
Mrs. Townsend departed this life on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Russell Medical Center.
Mrs. Townsend leaves to cherish her memories: one devoted son, George Clovas Townsend, Jr. and one devoted daughter, Janice Townsend Shields. Three granddaughters: Kayvonne {Keith) Townsend Walker.
